At which cinemas is this year’s Warsaw Film Festival being held?
- Multikino Złote Tarasy - between Złota and Emilii Plater streets, Jana Pawła II Ave., and Warszawa Centralna railway station
- Kinoteka - at the Palace of Culture and Science, entrance from Jerozolimskie Ave.
- Kultura at 21/23 Krakowskie Przedmieście St. (corner of Trębacka St.)
Where and when can I buy tickets?
Due to the festival's great popularity, we recommend you purchase your tickets before the event; advance sales last from Friday, 2 October to Thursday, 8 October, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Empik shop at 116/122 Marszałkowska St., first floor. During the festival, advance sales will continue at Kinoteka.
Box offices at the festival cinemas (including advance sales) will open half an hour before the first screening.
Can I buy or book tickets to the festival online?
We do not conduct online ticket sales or booking.
Are festival passes available?
No. Advance sales allow you to choose any combination of films - on the ticket order form.
How much do tickets cost?
PLN 15.00 for screenings starting at 4 p.m. or later, and PLN 10.00 for earlier screenings.
Are there any reduced-rate tickets and who is eligible?
No. Thanks to our partners, sponsors, and public subsidies, we have kept our ticket prices low for years.
Can I return a ticket once purchased?
No. Purchased tickets are non-returnable.
What language versions are the films screened in?
At seven (out of ten) of the festival screening rooms, Polish subtitles will be electronically displayed.
NB: There will be no Polish subtitles in room 3 at Multikino and rooms 2 and 3 at Kinoteka!
All films are screened in their original language versions, from festival copies. In the case of non-English language films, a festival copy means a copy with English subtitles.
Exceptions can happen, that is, films without English subtitles (or subtitled in other languages, e.g. French), a fact that the organizers sometimes discover at the last minute. We will do our best to keep you informed of such cases, though these are very rare indeed.
Films in the Family Cinema Days section will be screened with a voiceover in Polish.
Are the seats numbered?
No. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
Do the festival cinemas have disabled access?
Multikino has wheelchair access. Regrettably, Kinoteka and Kultura are not equipped to serve disabled customers.
Can I bring my child to the cinema?
Almost all the films in the WFF programme are for adults only. Films suitable for children are presented in the Family Cinema Days section.
How long are the films?
Usually no more than two hours. The running times are printed in the catalogue and the screenings calendar.
What happens if I'm late to a screening?
This year (2009) we will not be screening commercials before films, which means screenings start at precisely the time stated on your ticket.
We cannot guarantee that latecomers will be allowed into the screening room, and we do not offer ticket refunds.
How is the poll for the Audience Award organized?
The Audience Award may be granted to any film from the festival's programme, regardless of the section it is shown in - whether competitive or not. Cinema staff will hand you a voting coupon at the entrance to a screening, and collect your votes as you leave. You can only vote for the film you have just seen. After the final screening, the organizers will count the votes. The film with the highest marks from the audience is the winner of the Audience Award.
