THE FILM WORLD IN WARSAW
INTERNATIONAL - FRESH - COMPETITIVE
The Warsaw Film Festival (WFF), organized by the Warsaw Film Foundation, is the key international film event in Poland, recognized by FIAPF. The WFF is held every year starting from 1985, always in October during the Polish 'golden autumn', a great time to visit our country.
Some figures for 2008: 244 films (157 features and 87 shorts) from 55 countries, 10 days, 9 screens, 97,000 admissions, 149 filmmakers (directors, producers, actors) presenting their films.
The programme consists of the following sections:
* The International Competition - international features
* 1-2 Competition - for 1st and 2nd feature films
* Free Spirit Competition
* Documentary Competition
* Shorts Competition
* Master's Touch
* Discoveries
* Family Cinema Weekend
All the films presented, regardless of the section (competitive or non-competitive), are eligible for the Audience Award. The FIPRESCI Jury gives its Award to the best 1st or 2nd feature film from Central and Eastern Europe.
The 25th Warsaw Film Festival will take place October 9-18, 2009.
IMPORTANT DATES:
1 March - selection process commences
15 June - deadline for submissions
15 August - selection results announced to the entrants
2 October - deadline for delivery of prints
9-18 October - dates of the Festival
12-17 October - competition screenings
Saturday, 17 October - Awards Ceremony
31 October - film prints returned
